Just wrapped up a winning weekend with a nice long run. I love when I head out for a run (DRAG MYSELF OUT FOR A RUN), with reasonable expectations. I’ll run 3 miles. That’s reasonable. I want to run 6 but I’ll run 3 because I am exhausted.
Then my feet hit the pavement, my breathing calms and I keep going. The perfect end to a fantastic weekend. That and the pasta with chicken and a pesto cream sauce I just made for myself. Oh and the healthy pour of red wine. OH and the chatting with my beloved brother online. That dude kicks ass.
The following was accomplished:
1. Thursday. Acupuncture, talk on vaccines, play.
2. Friday. Kayaking. I woke up early to leave for a day of kayaking with a friend. Once I get the hang of NOT using my paddle as the rudder, we’ll be good to go. Kayaking does not equal canoeing.

Sleeping. In the car, on the way back to Seattle.
Dog park. Scurry up to the park to find the dog who has been playing four square in my absence with Leah and Sachi.

Jazz. I fell in love with a trumpeter and a drummer. Talent really gets me… going. Yes, ma’am, I will buy your son’s album, how much? Oh sure, I’ll pay that much. No problem. And then onto more and more music. And the drummer. Oof. Second set? Ok, we’ll stay for the second set. Never mind that I am getting up at 7:30a to leave for a bike ride!! Fortunately both call Seattle their home… there will be more (live) music in our future.

3. Saturday. Skagit! Tim and I… not in good shape. We kayaked, we stayed for the second set. We are in desperate need of our sunglasses, our coffee and our breakfast of baked goods. In the car again headed north this time. We are non-stop, Tim and I. The tulips wait for us. The tulips, Tom, Amy, Jean and Paul. The six of us in the tulips, sigh, then we are off to the brewery. Deserved.

Side note: It seems that with all our recent excursions, I am inadvertently taking a tour of the region’s finest breweries!
We’ve started to measure all our athletic pursuits against burgers and beer. Was this a beer and burger worthy excursion? Maybe not but mmm, beer. And that beer was delicious. One beer down.

Home. (briefly) Cleaned the tgrfpatio (cat walked across keyboard), loved the dog, spent time with neighbors.
Drinks. Headed to Oliver Twist for delicious cocktails. New favorite bartender… although there is the bartender at Liberty... hmmm. The bartender at Liberty bar will spritz you with water on a hot night… it’s hot. I digress!
4. SUNDAY! Up (late) for brunch with family and friends. I really love my family. A lot. I realized on route to West Seattle that it was one year ago Easter that I came to Seattle for my interview at Children’s, only to return home in time for the Champagne for Jesus brunch. Sigh. So much in one year. I also realized, despite going to W Seattle regularly this fall, that I have a better sense of it in the two weeks Steve and Danielle have lived there. W Seattle and I will become friends this Spring, I have no choice but to commit to the experience now that I am drawn there by family.
Gardening and food shopping. Went to a nursery, thought about my Mom, purchased plants, realized that I need food, grocery shopped.
Re-potted my houseplants in hopes of their survival… Tegan is coming… seriously guys, time to pep up, she’s going to be disappointed in me if we don’t get our act together. She’s going to regret leaving you in my care!!!
Side note: I look like Krusty the clown when I take my cycling helmet off… Orion, are you familiar with the show, the Simpson’s? I needed that 2x4 kick stand yesterday as I fell over… into a fence.
Kate, you got a blog? Fun! Sorry we haven't kept up, I'm a disorganized student and a worse friend! Hope to talk to you soon. - jon
