Happy Hairy Valentine's Day!

Dogs and Love.

Happy Valentine's Day! "I am incapable of participating in this hallmark holiday in the traditional sense because I'm a dog but I have plenty of hair to give." I will scatter it about our apartment ever so delicately, just like rose petals!

The Tobolowsky Files Ep. 23 - It's Not My Dog
An unexpected acquisition of a dog and the discovery of real love, a love rooted in respect. Not as sappy as it sounds, it is mostly amusing in a laugh out loud sort of way.

Norah Jones - Man of the Hour
I choose Jazz and Kobe over a pot head. And certainly over the "I'm allergic to your pets, you should get rid of them" types. They'll still be here in 6 months! I won't go so far as to say that Kobe and Jazz don't come with their baggage but it isn't hurtful and complicates my life in an expected way.

Shedding.

Why is my dog shedding in February? Can someone answer this for me? This pile of dog hair was collected after 1/2 a day! (I take pictures of pet hair, as though it is some sort of prize, as though we've achieved something and it should be documented.)

Back to shedding in February. I accept winter quietly. I enjoy the hibernation, the warm and deeply satisfying soupy meals, my leg warmers and hats. And I enjoy the much needed reprieve from pet hair. I regain my sanity.

Anyone who knows me well, knows that I have spent my entire life engaged in a battle against pet hair. I sweep it up, I make tape rolls and remove it from my furniture, I pick individual pet hairs off my fleece... one by one. I own way too much black clothing. So why oh why Seattle, is my dog shedding in the winter?! I have concluded that it's Jazz's only Valentine's gift to offer, her version of rose petals scattered about the apartment.
